Getting a Facelift

Redemption’s Heart is getting a facelift. Please bear with me as we roll out these changes in format. In the mean time: I have a question for you guys. What does the phrase “Spiritual Bulimic” mean to you? What kind of picture does that create in your mind?

Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it.

  1. It will be difficult to say what I am thinking…Like Susan said, they take in the word but they don’t let it digest, but then taking it one step further, the person will “spew” the words out to others while they, themselves are starving.
It walks along with the “Spiritual Anorexic” who thinks that they can live and grow on one verse per week instead of feeding their spirit every day.

  2. “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that bear witness of Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me, that you may have life.” (John 5:39,40).

I also think of those that deny that Christ’s body and blood are in the Sacrament of the Alter. Are they still getting fed? Sure through the preached Word. However, they are not receiving all that our Lord has promised.

  3. What comes to my mind for “Spiritual Bulimic” is this verse –

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
    II Timothy 3:7

The person is binging – taking it all in – ever learning – but not able to digest it and keep it down – coming to the knowledge of the truth.
